Rhum Clement Ti Punch Happy Hour   5-7pm

Rhum Clement hosts a happy hour meet and greet at RM Champagne Salon.  Have a Ti Punch, mingle with US director of Rhum Clement Ben Jones, and taste the new 6- and 10-year. The question of the eve shall be, “How does one get to Martinique 2014?” Round of Daiquiri pong anyone?

Our local distilling community is booming with good drink and good people, and we invite our friends in the bar, restaurant and liquor store worlds to come and meet us in one place.  Meet the folks who make, purvey, and – we’re just guessing here – drink our locally crafted spirits.  From gin to whiskey, aquavit to agave, Chicago distillers have got your cocktail needs covered; plus they are all wonderful teachers! A FEW Good Spirits Cocktail Night 8-9pm

@ The Everleigh Social Club, 939 W Randolph West Loop

Few Spirits hosts a whimsical, post-Victorian ‘Steam Punk’ exploration of the Sexual Solar System powered by the distillate of the most noble grains (Malted Barley, Corn, Rye & Wheat) and inspired by the most sophisticated botanicals (Juniper, Citrus, Angelica Root & Coriander, etc.), with ambient burlesque entertainment provided by Ladies on the Swing!  $10 members, $20 guests. Everything You’ve Ever Wanted to Know about Whiskey   9am-5pm

@ Columbia Yacht Club, 111 N Lake Shore, DuSable Harbor

Famed whiskey master Michael Veach returns to Chicago for a second teaching of his four-week bourbon class out of Louisville. Learn, learn, learn all about whiskey in a condensed, single-day class on the lovely lakeside yacht of COLYC. Reservations are extremely limited and your attendance is extremely encouraged; tickets available here.

Meet distiller Barry Stein from Canadian spirit makers Still Waters and taste their lovely north of the border spirits for yourself, including their well-regarded Stalk & Barrel single malt.

Meet distiller Lars Forde from craft vet Yahara Bay out of Madison, Wisconsin. Enjoy sips of their wide range of interesting handmade spirits at your neighborhood Whole Foods.

A Spirited Treasure Hunt   4:30-10pm

@ Found, 1631 Chicago, Evanston

Join us for A Spirited Treasure Hunt, featuring North Shore’s award winning spirits.  Found Kitchen presents a menu of inspired gin cocktails, paired with Chef Nicole Pederson’s seasonal fare. Find your new favorite gin, and learn what makes this spirit so beloved both behind the bar and in the kitchen.  North Shore will be on site from at least 6 to 9, but the special menu is available all night – no reservations required.

KBD in CHI Tasting   5-7pm

Hunter Chavanne, brand ambassador for the esteemed Willet Distillery, hosts an intimate tasting at one of Chicago’s finest boutique liquor stores. Featuring Johnny Drum, Old Bardstown, and their small-batch collection (Noah’s Mill, Rowan’s Creek).

Midwest Gin Smackdown   6-9pm

@ Farmhouse Tavern, 228 W Chicago, Near North Side

With forgotten styles of gin cropping up across the oceans and all the way in between, explore great accomplished and new gins from the Midwest at this juniper-forward soirée. Featuring North Shore, Death’s DoorNew Holland, and newcomer Pinckney Bend, each making their own distinctive style of gin in a great Midwestern state.  You’ll have an opportunity to taste and discuss these spirits with their makers and enjoy them in a range of delicious cocktails.

Mike Miller welcomes some of his favorite American craft brands to his punk-rock-whiskey-Bills haven in Lincoln Park for another go-round of whiskey winners. Make your way to both whiskey events and you’ll have the chance to… well, pat yourself on the back for having tasted a dozen whiskeys in one night. Featuring Balcones and Mississippi River.

Agave Answers It All   6-9pm

@ Masa Azul, 2901 W Diversey, Logan Square

Tequila gets all the credit, but Mezcal is in fact the older and wiser brother of Mexico’s national spirit. Taste some of the finest agave distillates on the block, including their American-made cousins, at Logan’s Southwestern hangout. $5 cocktail specials at the bar all night featuring ARTEnomLos Nahuales, Alipus, MezcaleroDel Maguey, El Buho, and Scorpion Mezcal.

For the Love of Sugar Cane   6-8pm

Rum has a long and storied history in the US, and now many American craft distillers are making great spirits from sugar cane juice and molasses.  Enjoy delicious kill devil inspired cocktails by Prasino Mixologist Todd Ekis, a specialty menu and much more.  Featuring Chicagoland rum distiller Tailwinds.

The Magic of the Barrel with FEW   7-8pm

@ The Monkey’s Paw, 2524 N Southport, Lincoln Park

Stop by Southport for a fun and fascinating exploration of the essential role of oak in aging spirits, hosted by FEW Spirits Brand Manager & Distiller, Winston Evans.  The Monkey’s Paw mixes three FEW cocktails with three delicious small bite pairings by Chef Rah Shabazz.  Call the restaurant at 773-413-9314 to reserve your spot; food and drink pairing is $20.

Meet the Indie Distillers   7-9pm

Experience true indie fashion at the North Side’s favorite farm-to-table pub, with snacks from Chef Cleetus Friedman and an array of alluring spirits. The weather looks promising, so enjoy in the gorgeous wooden bar and on the rooftop patio! Featuring Clyde May’s, CorsairHeadframeHeavenly Spirits, Oola, and Redemption.

Bring Your Weird   10-midnight

@ Watershed, 601 N State, River North

Things get weird again at our favorite underground cocktail bar. Six distilleries bring their weirdest (and arguably their best) spirits for you to taste, try in cocktails, and vote for your favorite. This IS Chicago after all, so vote early and often! The Watershed team walks attendees through their cocktail design process as they conjure up new drinks for these unique spirits à la Iron Chef. Featuring Balcones, FEW, Great LakesKOVAL, New Holland, and St. George. $10 at the door for three tastings, a cocktail, and your vote.

Chicago welcomes Indie Spirits from all over North America to the Michigan Avenue Hilton for an evening of unabridged tastes, seminars, and conversations with the distillers. THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 26

A Night of Scotch with Gordon & MacPhail   4-7pm

@ Independent Spirits Inc., 5947 N Broadway, Edgewater

Spend time with Gordon & MacPhail‘s national brand ambassador, Chris Riesbeck, at Edgewater’s newest neighborhood booze shop to sample an array of single malts from this esteemed Scotch producer.

Speakeasy at Autre Monde   5-11 pm

Autre Monde, 6727 W Roosevelt, Berwyn

A full evening of cocktail revelry, with the restaurant converting to a one-night-only pop-up speakeasy complete with live jazz, classic cocktails, and a Parisian classics inspired menu.  Cocktails feature spirits from North Shore Distillery and Templeton Rye.

Craft Distillers Tasting   6-8pm

Binny’s Beverage Depot, 1132 S Jefferson St, South Loop

Chris Stevens from Craft Distillers is live and in person to offer tastes and talk about their spirits, while Peter Kim of Union Sushi and BBQ crafts cocktail samples.  Also featuring Great Lakes Distillery, Russell Henry Gins, Fluid Dynamics, and Germain-Robin.

Cocktail Bar Launch Party   6-8pm

@ Whole Foods, 1550 N Kingsbury, Lincoln Park

What’s that you say? That giant Whole Foods now has a COCKTAIL bar?! It’s true! Join the opening shindig with Bittercube/Yahara Bay cocktails from Daniel Beres of Milwaukee’s Blue Jacket and Clyde May specials from Southern‘s Andre Cunningham.

A FEW Spirits More: Cocktail Night   7-11pm

@ Fountainhead, 1970 W Montrose, Ravenswood

Relish three distinctive cocktails created by Fountainhead‘s master mixologist, Chris Kafcas, made with FEW‘s genuinely small-batch gin and whiskey, all paired with small plates expertly prepared by celebrated Chef Cleetus Friedman.  Open to the public and available all evening, a la carte, both on the rooftop deck and downstairs.

Guest Bartender Robby Haynes pours Letherbee Malort Cocktails 8pm-Midnight

@ Barrelhouse Flat, 2624 N Lincoln, Lincoln Park

In honor of Craft Spirits Week, the Barrelhouse Flat team has partnered with local distiller Letherbee and Robert F. Haynes (formerly of The Violet Hour, Haynes worked directly with Letherbee to create “R. Franklin’s Original Recipe Malört”).  Greg Buttera and Stephen Cole of Barrelhouse Flat have incorporated the Malört into their own cocktails and Haynes has also come up with his perfect recipe, all using this locally infamous liqueur.  Guests can enjoy these cocktails being served by Buttera and guest bartender, Haynes, from 8pm to midnight.

Late Night with North Shore   9pm-close

@ The Drawing Room, 937 N Rush, Gold Coast

The Drawing Room teams up with North Shore Distillery for a late night cocktail party. Come in for a “Boxa’ Chocolates”, say goodbye to this year’s tomato season with one last “Midnight Mary”, and take a peek at what Cristiana and her team have up their sleeves for fall.  North Shore Distillery featured cocktails are $8.  Now is your chance to see what all the fuss is about!

See where the magic happens during a day-long open house at Chicagoland distilleries including Chicago Distilling Co. (Logan Square, under construction), FEW (Evanston), KOVAL (Ravenswood), North Shore (Lake Bluff), Quincy Street (Riverside), Tailwinds (Plainfield), along with Great Lakes (Milwaukee, WI) and Journeyman (Three Oaks, MI).
